Original Voice Cast Confirmed For Animaniacs Revival
We thought we would hear something about the Animaniacs revival at SDCC. We did not. Okay, then, we figured they must be saving that news for NYCC. That com just came and went without so much as a peep. The show debuts next year, but no one’s seen a single screenshot since its initial announcement in 2018. What is WB hiding in that water tower??
We’re not sure what’s going on, but something DID come to light recently, and though it wasn’t leaked by WB themselves, we’ll take it. The Twitter account for the Animaniacs podcast “The Animanicast” discovered that the original voices of the Warners — Rob Paulsen as Yakko, Jess Harnell as Wakko, and Tress MacNeille as Dot — ARE in fact reprising their roles in the new version.
We are VERY pleased to finally see in PRINT today in @yakkopinky‘s “Voice Lessons” that the original voice cast of #Animaniacs has indeed been working on the upcoming reboot! ?

This is great news because, until now, it was never a given. The Powerpuff Girls were recast for their revival even though the original VAs were alive, well and capable. We also know that Maurice LaMarche will be voicing The Brain again, alongside Paulsen as Pinky, because that news came out months ago.
Sadly, voices are the extent of it. Not a single one of the original producers, writers or artists have been asked back (except in the case of Randy Rogel, the one responsible for Yakko’s World). So it’s really anybody’s guess what we’re about to get in terms of writing quality, and that’s what makes us most nervous.
As far as we know, Animaniacs is still returning for two seasons on Hulu in 2020 (you just know WB would yank this for HBO Max if they could).
