NYCC 2018: The Definitive Dreamworks She-Ra Trailer
For The Honor Of Greyskull! Though the TV networks have long since abandoned the entire concept of action cartoons, streaming services like Netflix are more than happy to pick up the slack (and that’s a good thing). From Voltron to The Dragon Prince, they’ve been churning out some excellent toonage these days, and the streak should continue with She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
This two-minute Comic-Con trailer is the most extensive peek we’ve gotten at the series yet. As with the 1985 original, the story begins on the planet Etheria, where the evil Hordak has kidnapped He-Man’s twin sister and raised her as his own for the benefit of his world-conquering army, the Horde. When Adora is separated from the Horde and winds up with good forces, she learns the truth.
This time, however, He-Man has nothing to do with her face heel turn…she meets a bunch of OTHER princesses who are fighting against Hordak and the Horde. Allying with the good guys unfortunately means losing her former best friend Catra…but she gains Shadow Weaver, Entrapta, Scorpia, Netossa, Frosta, Mermista, Perfuma and Spinerella in the process (before you roll your eyes at these names, they were created by Filmation back in the day — the kings of on-the-nose monikers).
Can She-Ra save Etheria from the Horde? That depends on if this series lasts long enough to reach its endgame. For now just enjoy the ride. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power premieres on Netflix November 16.
