The Final Fantasy Trading Card Game has received its seventh upgrade. “Opus VII” is the name of the seventh expansion, which was released as of today.
The card game has now caught up with the regular series via the introduction of Noctis from Final Fantasy XV, along with Lasswell from Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. In these new cards, you’ll find exclusive art by Toshitaka Matsuda, Toshiyuki Itahana, Akira Oguro and other veterans of Final Fantasies past.
There are 138 new cards in Opus VII, but you won’t be able to buy them all at once. They’ll be sold in booster packs containing 12 cards each, with one premium foil card included. Trade ’em with friends or people online to build a complete set.
Featuring 138 unique cards, the set also introduces individual characters, Noctis (FINAL FANTASY XV) and Lasswell (FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS®) for the first time, with more support coming for both titles next year. Each “Opus VII” Booster Pack features twelve total cards with one premium foil card, bringing players even closer to completing their FINAL FANTASY TRADING CARD GAME collection.
There’s more: Square also just released the first Two Player Starter Set for the Final Fantasy trading Card Game: Villains & Heroes, themed around Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. This set contains everything two players need to start a game — no additional cards required.
On October 27th and 28th, participating hobby stores across America held a special prerelease event for Opus VII. Attendants received advance booster packs ahead of street date, an exclusive 2nd Anniversary Deck Box, and a collectible promo card. It’s possible your local hobby store may still have some of these things.
