Nintendo’s NX Begins Mass Production Overseas
Business Insider reports that the Korean slave factory Foxconn is entering test production for Nintendo’s next console-handheld-possibly-both. Other factories like Misumi Electronics and Hosiden have begun assembling NXes. Reports say Nintendo is aiming at producing 10 million NX units per year, which is over half the amount of Wii Us they were able to sell in its first twelve months.
So the NX is definitely on the way! The problem here? We still haven’t seen it.
Don’t get me wrong. We’ve heard the rumors and we’ve heard confirmation from countless sources as to its design and what gimmicks they’re going with this time. We know it’s going to be a console-handheld hybrid device with detatchable controllers that work like Wiimotes, and we know Mario, Zelda and Pokemon games are supposed to be available for it within its first six months, as well as Dragon Quest X…..but we haven’t really “SEEN” seen it.
There’s a certain futility in keeping such a major product out of consumers’ eyes for over 18 months after initially announcing it, because the longer you attempt to keep it a secret, the more about it will just leak out anyway. And now that there are going to be thousands of the mysterious product just lying around, it wouldn’t shock me if photos of one finally surfaced. (Don’t believe the first one you see; we’re approaching prime time for fakery and the Internet knows it.)
Nintendo, do the sensible thing and reveal the NX yourselves before the element of any surprise is completely taken from you.
