Nintendo’s Black Friday Deal Looks Awfully Familiar
You’ll never guess what Nintendo is offering for its Black Friday sale. You’ll never guess in a million years! ….wait, did you just say “Mario Kart 8 Bundle”? How did you do that?
Yes, for the third year in a row, Big N is serving up the exact same offer: buy a Nintendo Switch, get a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe built in. What it lacks in originality, it kinda makes up for in small improvements: unlike last year, this isn’t a thinly disguised attempt to get rid of old units with inferior battery life. It’s Version 2 and this time, it also comes with three free months of Nintendo Switch Online, so you can get to playing dozens of classic titles, Tetris 99 AND Super Mario Bros 35 (at least for a few months).
In addition, for those who already own a Switch Nintendo is discounting a lot of its games by at least $20, something the misers in charge rarely let happen. If you don’t have Super Mario Maker 2, Luigi’s Mansion 3, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Mario Tennis Aces, Yoshi’s Crafted World, Splatoon 2 or New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, you can get any of them (physically or digitally) for just $39.99. And Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee are $29.99, a discount of fifty percent.
Why is it always Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? Probably because, as we reported last week, the Wii U port remains the single best-selling game on the system. Speeding up from behind it with a red shell, though, is Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which has become the second-best selling Switch game of all time in just a few months. Might we see an Animal Crossing bundle this time next year?
