Nintendo Unveils First Mobile Game and New Membership Program
Nintendo dropped numerous bits of news about their upcoming mobile games, and the new membership system that will replace Club Nintendo.
First up, (as translated by the Wall Street Journal) the first mobile game from Nintendo and DeNA is called Miitomo. It will be free to play, with other additions possible via paid downloads. It was also noted that certain other mobile games would be pay-to-download from the beginning. According to Nintendo, “Miis go ahead and communicate with other Miis without your knowledge. This will help people who are hesitant to talk about themselves to communicate with others, and reveal a side of your friends you never knew.”
It was also noted that the title will not release this year as planned, but instead will be launched March 2016. When asked why, Nintendo noted “the need for more lead time to fully promote and explain Miitomo. The company is busy promoting other titles in the pipeline right now, he says. They will start promoting Miitomo after the year-end holiday season.”
Not only that, Nintendo revealed that the new membership program would be titled “My Nintendo”, and will work across all devices. In fact, it’ll use the Cloud to allow transfer of data from consoles and portable devices to your phone, PC, and more! Also, you’ll be able to earn points for rewards by buying and playing games.
