Nintendo Amiibo Figurines Clear 3.5 Million Units in US Sales Alone
In a recent financial report, Nintendo and the National Purchase Diary (NPD) confirmed some huge sales for Nintendo and the Amiibo figurines in the United States. According to the report, the life-to-date sales for the Amiibo figurines have sold more than 3.5 million units to date in the US. According to Nintendo, that is an attach rate of nearly 2.5 million figures.
Nintendo recently launched the third wave of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Amiibo figurines and some new Super Mario Bros. Amiibos released in conjunction with Mario Party 10. Nintendo is even expanding the line with some rare exclusive variants. Walmart is going to sell an exclusive Gold Mario Amiibo figurine. There was even a report that Toys ‘R Us would sell custom-painted Amiibo figurines on its website.
Nintendo had some other positive news in its recent financial report. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D sold more than 515,000 combined physical and digital units. This marks the title as the fastest-selling Legend of Zelda hand-held game in the United States in franchise history. In addition, the Nintendo 3DS family sold nearly 395,000 units in its 48th month on the market in the US. According to Nintendo a majority of these sales went to the recently released New Nintendo 3DS XL systems. The Nintendo 3DS first launched on August 19, 2012.
Nintendo is set to release a Mario Party 10 plus Mario Amiibo bundle pack starting on March 20. The game will be available for the Nintendo Wii U console.
