Nicole Kidman Talks Queen Atlanna
Despite all the hate that the DCEU films have gotten, it’s hard to deny that they’ve gotten some pretty big starpower for their films. Ben Affleck, Jared Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, J.K. Simmons, and more have joined the ranks. One of the most interesting additions though is Nicole Kidman who is going to be playing Queen Atlanna in the Aquaman film due next year. In the comics, Atlanna has had two different forms, she’s been both a former ruler of Atlantis who died before getting to know Arthur, and then in recent comics lore she survived and became queen of another race, a warrior queen mind you.
So what will she be in the Aquaman film? Well, probably a bit of both according to Kidman, who told Deadline:
“Well, James Wan is Australian, and he’s a friend of mine,” Kidman said. “I think he’s going to make an amazing movie. We’ve always circled each other, so when he came to me, I was like, ‘James, I’ll do anything for you.’ When he said ‘female warrior from the sea’ who wears mother-of-pearl, I went, ‘Yes. Female warrior from the sea. Me like.’”
This isn’t the first time Kidman has sung Director James Wan’s praises. Hopefully everything goes well so that Aquaman can follow the Wonder Woman route of being praised by critics.
