Next Pokemon Movie May Be A Remake of The TV Series
Currently Legendary Pictures is brewing up a partially live-action feature film revolving around Pokemon, specifically a talking Pikachu with a detective hat and a gruff voice (it’ll make sense in context, at least I hope). It’ll be the first Pokemon movie created for the mainstream moviegoing public, but on the animated side, there have been an endless number of Pokemon movies released already. Some have had theatrical screenings in the US while others have made their debuts on TV. They’re usually extensions of the TV show’s current season, but the one announced today….ah, this one is different.
The movie is called Gekijōban Pocket Monster: Kimi ni Kimeta! which translates to Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You! “I Choose You” was the title of the TV show’s first episode in both Japan and abroad. And the movie’s poster depicts a scene right out of that episode:
At the end of Episode One, Ash looked into the sky and saw Ho-Oh flying into the distance, which was the first time that Pokemon had ever been revealed. A 30-second promo was released that doesn’t tell us much more than that, but that is indeed Ash in his Season One outfit, though the symbol on his hat has inexplicably changed:
Why would a Pokemon movie choose to remake scenes from the first season instead of adapting Sun and Moon, the new games (as well as the new season of the TV series)? Because 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of that series. Very few anime go on for 20 years with no interruption, and fewer still become icons with a global audience. A little celebration is in order.
If the next Pokemon movie is indeed remaking scenes from the TV show’s beginning, it’ll attract an audience far wider than the single-digit-year-olds the movies are usually targeted at. The localization branch might want to consider a theatrical run (Fathom Event at the least). It’s a thought.

This is a movie I will actually be looking forward to watching since Pokemon was part of my childhood. To be honest if the movie was a follow up of the current season I wouldn't really know what will be going on since I didn't watch all the seasons. I think the last season I watched was the 4 th one. I hope portraying some of the first episodes scenes will make it be as successful as I think.

A lot of Pokemon fans all around the world definitely will make the box office rich and the movie a hit.
I hope the storyline is a bit different and more matured so that adults can relate to it likewise.
