New Nintendo Switch Online Update Completes The Kirby Experience
As of today, if you’ve got a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you can have the full Kirby 90s Experience. The latest update to the NSO archive adds Kirby’s Dream Land 2 to the Game Boy section, which means every mainline Kirby game from 1992’s Kirby’s Dream Land through 2000’s Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is playable. It just so happens there’s another Kirby game out for Switch (but we hesitate to call it new, it originally appeared on Wii).
The gimmick of KDL2 is that, for the first time, Kirby can summon animal partners to help him save Dream Land — he can ride them and they can use their own special abilities. More importantly, the magazine ad for KDL2 contained one of the greatest sentences ever written by man: “Kneel before the hamster that coughs up white-hot spheres of justice.” No AI will ever be able to generate anything nearly as good.
There are three other games too: don’t sell Burgertime Deluxe short, walking over beef patties is surprisingly addicting. Xevious is a classic NES shooter based on the arcade game. And Side Pocket is a very stylish game of pool that wears its sunglasses at night.
All four games are now live on Nintendo Switch Online.
