New Lara Croft Actress Has Played Tomb Raider Games
Whenever a video game title is made into a movie, one must wonder if the team behind the film will play and or study the material in depth. Lack of doing so has been one of the reasons video game movies tend to fail at the box office. With one of the few exceptions being Tomb Raider.
With the games popular once more, the film adaptions of Tomb Raider are coming back as well, this time with actress Alicia Vikander, who is most known for her role in Ex Machina. Apparently, she doesn’t need much help getting into character, as she played Tomb Raider growing up:
“I kept it secret – I didn’t have many girlfriends who shared that interest, but I really loved it,” she says in an interview in the new issue of Total Film magazine out today, excerpts taken by GamesRadar. “I did play Tomb Raider back then, even though my parents said I wasn’t allowed to.”
Vikander is also ready for the physicality the film will bring,
“I danced for many years. I really enjoy the aspect of being able to work with my physicality. In one way, I can probably do that unconsciously,” she says. “But in this, it’s going to be a whole other level. It’s always wonderful when you get the chance to try things out that you never thought you would be able to do, to push yourself and your boundaries.”
