New Clip From Avengers Endgame
Here, folks, is a minute of footage from Avengers Endgame, which made its debut on Good Morning America this AM. If you want to get technical, though, the first time it was shown publicly was last week during the CinemaCon event, which was closed to everyone but the press. Since there wasn’t much to the clip, there was no shortage of precise summaries of it….and if you’ve read one of those, you already know every bit of dialogue here. If not, buckle up for one minute and fifteen seconds of brilliant exposition….’
Now we know a bit of the surviving Avengers’ game plan, at least at first. The Gauntlet clearly still works, so maybe if they beat Thanos up and swipe it, they can re-snap everyone back to existence. Captain Marvel also explains why she hasn’t helped out with any of the Avengers’ other crises…..because her movie wasn’t in the pipeline yet. Actually if you saw Captain Marvel then you know the in-universe reason.
Avengers Endgame marks the end of the MCU as we know it. Might we get a hint as to where things are going from a post-credits sequence? Might we see….the X-MEN? Think again. According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, they’re nowhere near ready to begin that transition, even if Disney owns those characters right now.
“It’ll be a while,” Feige said to the website iO9. “It’s all just beginning and the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set. So really it’s much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where [the X-Men will appear] right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they’re home. That they’re all back. But it will be a very long time.”
