Netflix Direct, Watch Netflix like its a TV Network
Majority of Netflix subscribers are one sitting bingers. For years Netflix releases a whole season of an original, or third-party show in one sitting, so fans can binge them and watch them according to their availability. The preferences of most people varies based on their lifestyle.
There are still audiences out there who want to watch shows according to schedule. People who love Network television wanted to watch on specifically scheduled time slots. For example, Fans of the Walking Dead watched it on AMC every 9:00 PM on Sundays. CBS airs the Reality show Survivor every 8:00 PM on Thursdays.HBO Max is a streaming service but they have shows that airs on a particular schedule instead of a complete season binge model like Netflix.
I cannot watch TV on a schedule anymore unless it is a big sports event pay per view. I usually wait for a Network tv show to have a season finale before I binge it. Enduring ads is not really my thing. Not all people have the patience to wait weekly for the next episode of a show. That’s how I like things go but my preference does not reflect on everyone. There are still people who prefer watching shows on the timetable they can follow. They prefer are more traditional watching experience. Oldschool!
Netflix wanted a piece of that pie. They wanted to absorb people who watch by schedule as part of their subscribers. It is currently testing the waters in France. They launched a service called Netflix Direct. There will be shows that will air on specific time slots just like in Network and Cable television.
If Netflix direct becomes a success, they will gradually introduce it to other countries and territories. They will air shows that will appeal to the local market of the countries that will have this service.
