Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 2 Now Out For Switch And PC
Video game maker SNK hasn’t been a hardware publisher in a long time, but back in the 90s they used to dabble. The Neo-Geo Pocket and the Neo-Geo Pocket Color were technically more advanced than the Game Boy they were created to run against — the Pocket Color was the first handheld device to be sold in the US that used a stick for directional controls. and was 16-bit while the Game Boy Color was still 8-bit. Though the Pocket Color was a more capable machine than something like, say, Tiger’s Game.com, it never achieved an audience beyond the SNK fanboy niche.
But if you’re one of the millions who skipped the device, or you simply weren’t born yet, you’ve been granted a second chance. SNK has been releasing the Neo Geo Pocket Color library on modern systems through compilation packages. The latest of these, Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 2, comes out today and contains more than just SNK.
For the first time the company has reached out to another third party to include their own NGPC games in a collection — Capcom. Several once-lost Capcom titles are included in Vol. 2 including SNK Vs Capcom Card Fighters Clash and Mega Man Battle & Fighters.
- Iconic characters duke it out in an all-star brawl in “SNK VS. CAPCOM CARD FIGHTERS’ CLASH”.
- Stunning wrestlers settle it in the ring in “BIG BANG PRO WRESTLING”.
- Pilot your Unitron and aim for the top in “BIOMOTOR UNITRON”.
- Go wild in the world of MEGA MAN with “MEGA MAN BATTLE & FIGHTERS”.
- The second installment of masterclass puzzles is here: “PUZZLE LINK2”.
- Play through 30 different mini games in “GANBARE NEO POKE-KUN”.
- Roll the dice in “THE KING OF FIGHTERS BATTLE DE PARADISE”, the fun KOF-themed board game.
- Simplistic baseball has never been so fun with “BASEBALL STARS COLOR”.
- Serve your opponents your best shot in “POCKET TENNIS COLOR”.
- Build in “NEOGEO CUP ’98 PLUS COLOR” the strongest team in the league.
You can find Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 2 digitally on Steam and Switch today. A physical version is also being offered via Limited Run, but don’t expect delivery tomorrow.
