My Fake Boyfriend is Lionsgate attempt to make a mainstream LGBTQ romcom. A decade ago most LGBTQ themed films are either dark and depressing to bait an Oscar or they are Borderline porno. This 2022 LGBTQ movies is not for straight to DVD indie films anymore.  The Success of  Love,Simon open the flood gates for lighthearted LGBTQ content.

Speaking of Love, Simon, My Fake Boyfriend stars Keiynan Lonsdale. Most people remember him  playing a  heterosexual speedster Superhero from The Flash . Ever Since he starred on Love,Simon, Tree came out as queer. Lonsdale has been focusing on LGBTQ movies eversince.

Andrew (Keiynan Lonsdale) have a toxic relationship with his cheating ex-boyfriend Nico. Nico(Marcus Rosner) always cheat on him, dump him and go back to him. It is like an endless cycle of on and off. His bestfriends  Jake (Dylan Sprouse) and Kelly (Sarah Hyland) came out with a Unique idea to make his ex leave him alone. They created Christiano, A fictional  CGI catfish account on Instagram to be his Fake Boyfriend.

Christiano  made Andrew’s social life improve  as he is not tied to Nico’s grasp anymore and Nico became insecure enough to try manipulating Andrew Again. Christiano is way more handsome and richer than him but he didnt know he doesn’t exist.

Jake  on the other hand, Loves the attention his creation Cristiano has been getting. He becomes social media famous and majority of people thinks he exists. He enjoyed the Perks of owning a popular Instagram account.

Andrew will find a new chance of romance with Rafi (Samer Salem). A Gentleman cooking instructor who treats him better. Andrew will now ask his friends  to delete Cristiano because he is now ready to have relationship again. There is one problem though, Jake do not want to delete Cristiano because  he loves the adoration and admiration his creation is getting.
