Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was one of the most popular first-person shooters ever created and essentially kickstarted the entire genre of military shooter that dominated the previous generation. No wonder then when Activision revealed they were remastering the original game for the latest consoles, many fans were ecstatic.
Unfortunately, the publisher has also attracted a great deal of criticism over the past few months in regards to the game. The biggest complaint had to do with the fact that players could only access the upgraded version of the classic title by buying the upcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. It now appears there will be another wrinkle to upset fans, as legal wording on the Call of Duty website states that the game disc must be in the console in order to play the remaster.

It seems likely this is an attempt to prevent gamers from buying the sequel and then simply trading it in or getting a refund after redeeming the download for Modern Warfare Remastered.
