Mirror’s Edge Catalyst: New Release Details and E3 Gameplay Trailer
During E3 2015 last week, Electronic Arts released a new reveal trailer for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, which was on display during the conference. You can check out the full reveal trailer for the game in the player below. In addition, Electronic Arts confirmed some new release details on the highly anticipated next installment in the Mirror’s Edge franchise.
The new game will showcase the origin story of Faith, which is highlighted in the trailer. Speaking on the project, DICE Senior Producer Sara Jansson stated: “When we set out to bring Mirror’s Edge to a new generation of gamers, we knew we wanted to deliver on the potential of the first game – building an iconic heroine in Faith, bringing a beautiful, stylized world to life, and delivering fluid first person action. In Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, you will get to feel what it’s like to glide across the skyline of the city. You will get to know what it feels like to be a projectile who plows through your opponents. And you will get to experience Faith’s story.”
The game will feature fluid movement and combat in a massive, fully open-world city. Players will be free to explore the city at their leisure. The story follows Faith, a Runner who uncovers the truth behind the city of Glass. Players will have to master their environment and use momentum and timing for their combat to fight the oppression of the ruling elite of the city. New activities include Dash, races from point A to B, environmental puzzles and story missions.
EA also announced a pre-order bonuses for the game in the form of the Combat Runner Kit or Speed Runner Kit. The Combat Runner Kit includes unique in-game items including a combat-themed Projection Shader, changing how a player appears in their friend’s game world, a Runner Tag to stand out in the leaderboards and a unique background to customize a player’s Screen Hacks. The Speed Runner Kit comes with a Projection Shader, Runner Tag and unique Screen Hack background, but the features are more themed to the speed of their skill.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is set for a February 23, 2016 release. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC via Origin.
