Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, the long-awaited follow-up to Mirror’s Edge, won’t arrive until early next month. However, Electronic Arts and DICE have dropped the launch trailer for the game this week. You can check out the preview, with new gameplay and cutscene footage in the player below.
The game is set right after the skilled runner, Faith Connors, gets out of juvenile detention. She stirs things up with the City of Glass’ Conglomerate and the evil Gabriel Kruger. Now, Faith Connors has to run for something far bigger than even herself. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will explore the origin story of Faith Connors. Players will have to master her running skills to traverse the city and fight back against the Conglomerate. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will also feature a Social Play element, where players will compete against each other by tackling timed trials on the rootops of the City of Glass in the game.
The gameplay and free-running mechanics look pretty intense and epic based off this latest trailer. The more involved storyline featuring Faith also looks very intriguing.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst arrives on June 7 in North America and June 9 in Europe. The game will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. Players will be able to check out the game first on Xbox One using the EA Access program.
