Milk Bar: An EDM Tribute to Majora’s Mask
GameGrooves, a new record label dedicated to video game cover music, is publishing MILK BAR, a compilation of tunes from the Zelda classic Majora’s Mask rendered in EDM style.
The remix album features 15 seasoned EDM producers, including Vector U, NoteBlock, Theology, The Icarus Kid, Pete Lepley, and more, as they cook up hard-hitting renditions of some of the most familiar melodies of Termina. GameGrooves says this game in particular blends well with this kind of musical style. “The iconic track, ‘Clock Town,’ is a perfect example of why Majora’s Mask works so well as EDM, with its bright, cheerful melody riding over an intoxicating rhythm and bassline, taking the track to a new level. On the other hand, ‘Majora’s Wrath Battle’ accentuates the game’s darker moments with its impeccable sound design and haunting atmosphere. The breakbeats offer some momentary respite as we picture Link doing battle with the titular villain.”
“MILK BAR is an especially fun album that brings together some of the best producers in the VGM scene,” says GameGrooves producer Allen Brasch. “Just like Majora’s Mask, there will be plenty of moods and moments to experience, ranging from silly and fun to dark and ominous. I couldn’t be happier with the tracks, and I’m so excited for everyone to hear what we’ve cooked up!”
