A new piece of DLC has been released for the Lord of the Rings game Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Called The Power of Defiance, the free content gives players access to a number of new features and abilities, with the primary addition being that you can now change your character model to be a woman named Lithariel. Other new content includes a new challenge mode known as the Test of Defiance that limits which wraith abilities you can use and a new Epic Rune that allows you to revive when you die.
The DLC is currently only available on next generation consoles and PC. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 port of the hit title, which only released on those platforms several days ago, doesn’t look like it will be receiving the extra free content any time soon. However, the recent release on last generation consoles has had some harsh criticism since its launch. Issues with low quality graphics, problems with textures popping in and out and performance sinking at time so that the frame rate drops suddenly have all been major gripes. The biggest complaint though seems to be with the cut down features and content, with the nemesis system that was introduced in the original version being much more limited.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor first released in September for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It sees players take on the role of a ranger from Gondor who has been resurrected as a wraith following his death guarding the Black Gate of Mordor. It received a large amount of critical acclaim for its storytelling, excellent visuals and an impressive combat system.
