Marvel’s Inhumans: Serinda Swan Is Medusa
Marvel Studios has officially revealed the latest star of the upcoming TV show, Marvel’s Inhumans. Graceland star Serinda Swan has been cast in the role of the Queen of Attilan, Medusa.
In the series and Marvel Comics lore, Medusa is the Queen of the Inhumans and the wife of the Inhuman king, Black Bolt. Medusa is also Black Bolt’s most trusted advisor. In the show, she’s described as a “fiercely resilient warrior who has the ability to move and control her hair the way most people use their hands and fingers.” It will be interesting to see how the show depicts her super-powered locks on TV.
Swan joins the cast opposite Anson Mount as Black Bolt and Iwan Rheon as Maximus. The remaining roles likely needed to fill out the cast include Karnak, Gorgon and Triton; if they will appear in the upcoming show. Jeph Loeb commented on her casting, “Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character. She is nothing short of wonderful.” Executive Producer and showrunner Scott Buck added, “Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.”
The first two episodes of the upcoming ABC series will premiere exclusively in IMAX theaters for a two-week window in September 2017, prior to the 8-episode network run. Marvel’s Inhumans is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
