Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Reveals New Characters and Story Trailer
Capcom dropped a boat load of information today for the next installment in the Marvel vs. Capcom series, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. The new material today included the reveal of a boatload of new characters, a special limited edition box set, and a new story trailer, which you can check out in the player below.
So first off, eight additional characters were revealed in total today, along with pre-order details. But the following eight characters were revealed for the game’s roster:
Ultron
Hulk
Thor
Hawkeye
Rocket Raccoon
Chun-Li
Strider Hiryu
Chris Redfield
These characters join the roster alongside the previously announced Ryu, Mega Man X, Morrigan, Captain America, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel. The gameplay will also utilize the Infinity Stones to equip and use elemental powers, including Time, Power and Space.
The game is already confirmed to feature free-form 2v2 team battles along with a variety of single player modes and multiplayer content. The game is also set to feature a cinematic story mode. The new story trailer offers the first glimpse at the game’s cinematic Story Mode, where heroes and villains are pitted in battle against each other to save their merged worlds from a sinister threat called Ultron Sigma. So Sigma from the Mega Man X franchise is confirmed for the game as well. Ultron Sigma is a combination of Ultron and Sigma from their own respective universes. Ultron Sigma is obsessed with infecting all organic life with a cybernetic virus. Now warriors must band together to stop him. Other confirmed modes for the game include single player Arcade, Training and Mission modes.
Capcom also confirmed that pre-orders have started for the game today. Players can pre-order the standard edition, which will be $59.99 or the Deluxe Edition for $89.99. The Deluxe Edition will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will be packed with a 2017 Character Pass, which grants access to six additional DLC characters due out post-launch. One of the confirmed post-launch DLC characters will be Sigma. Other pre-order bonuses will be DLC costumes, such as Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu in North America. Other pre-order bonus costumes across Europe and Australia will be Gladiator Hulk and Mega Man Command Mission X.
Finally, there will also be the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Collector’s Edition. This will be the box set for the hardcore Marvel vs. Capcom fan. This set is also available for pre-order, but it will cost you $199.99. The set features four premium character dioramas from TriForce Collectibles for Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Mega Man X, and Chun-Li. There’s also a case that has six Infinity Stone replicas, and SteelBook packaging with the Deluxe Edition of the game.
