Marry Me is the comeback of Jennifer Lopez to her rom-com roots. During the early 2000s, J.Lo starred in a lot of romantic comedies. Despite her success in the film genre, she set it aside to focus on her music career. Jennifer Lopez is looking ageless at 52 because she still has onscreen chemistry with Maluma who is only 27 years old. Usually, older actors are paired up with younger onscreen partners but J.Lo is changing the game. The characters they play are around the same age.
Marry me is about Kat Valdez, A popular pop star who is about to marry her fiance, Bastian (Maluma ). As a promotion of her single titled Marry me. Kat is about to marry her fiance in the middle of her concert. Things didn’t go well her way because she found out that her man is cheating on her with her assistant. The affair got filmed on video and it went viral online. Broken-hearted by the betrayal, She decided to marry a random guy in the audience carrying a sign with the words Marry me. His name is Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson.) He is not even a fan, he is a single dad who brought his daughter to the concert. This is her way of saving face from the humiliation of Batian’s affair. Charlie is unable to say no because he realizes that declining will humiliate her worst. Being the gentleman that he is, he decided to marry her.

Marry me is based from a Webcomic of the same title. They just made some changes like the character’s names and age.
Kat will try to make her marriage with Charlie because she wanted to prove the media wrong. She became a center of Joke by entertainment media so she will try to fake a happy marriage with Charlie. The play pretend will eventually spark a real romance but their separate worlds will try to split them up. Marry me will come to theaters this coming February 11, 2022.
