Loreen makes history as the second two time winner of Eurovision
Loreen just made her country tie with Ireland with the 7th most wins. Ireland needs to win again in the future if they want their world record back.
She also breaks barriers as she is the first woman to become a two-time winner in The Eurovision Song Contest. As the winning country, Sweden will be hosting Eurovision next year. Ukraine won last year with the song “Stefania” but the United Kingdom, the runner-up last year volunteered to host in place of Ukraine. It is not an easy win for Loreen because Käärijä’s “Cha Cha Cha” was the favorite. Though the live crowd did cheer Loreen in her performances. Fans are more supportive of the Finnish Entry that they are chanting “Cha Cha cha” when no one is performing.
Loreen, “Winners performance Tattoo
She first won Eurovision back in 2012 with her song Euphoria. Now she got her 2nd victory with the song “Tattoo”. She garnered 372 points from televotes when she first won. It made her one of the most beloved winners of all time.
Her first Victory is with the song Euphoria back in 2012.
Her 2nd victory is more polarizing because of the outcry of the fans of the Finnish entry. Käärijä’ beat Loreen in Televotes but Loreen defeated him via Jury Votes. Loreen gains a total of 583 points over Käärijä’s 526. Fans of the runner-up had disliked bomb Loreen’s performances but I don’t think it will bother her because it is a fair and square win. She is also on good terms with her runner-up. It is the fans who pit them against each other. Also Tattoo is currently charting high in 15 countries.
The first two-time winner of Eurovision is Johnny Logan, from Ireland. He first win with the song “What’s another Year” back in 1980. He won again back in 1987 with the song “What’s another year”. Some people consider Johnny Logan as a three-time winner because he won again in 1992 as a composer with the song “Why Me?” Which is sung by Linda Martin. A Johnny Logan and Loreen duet should happen soon.
Loreen’s victory is special for Sweden because Next year is the 50th anniversary when ABBA won Eurovision with the song “Waterloo”. ABBA is the most successful Swedish act as they charted around the world, Included the United States. They are living legends for Sweden.
