Left Alive Marches To PS4 And PC In 2019
Last year Square Enix revealed they were working on a military action shooter called Left Alive. We haven’t seen much of it since then, until today — when Square announced its release date and brought forth this new trailer.
The narrative is described as “a dark and gritty story of survival from the perspective of three different protagonists as they struggle to escape the war-torn city.” If the aesthetic reminds you a bit of Metal Gear, there’s a reason: Yoji Shinkawa, the character designer for the Metal Gear series, is on the staff roll for this one. Alongside him are Toshifumi Nabeshima (the Armored Core series) and Takayuki Yanase (mech designer for Xenoblade Chronicles X), resulting in a visual hybrid of those series.
We wish we knew more, but the rest of Square’s press release deals with the generous pre-order bonuses, because that’s how you do business these days. The Day One edition of Left Alive will come with the bonus ‘Survival Pack’ DLC, containing several extra ammo and armor packs. Beyond that is the typically insane Square Online Store Exclusive Limited Edition Super Special Mech Edition Amazing Box Thing which costs $150 and has all this crammed in it:
- The Day One Edition of the game which includes the full game, and the Day One ‘Survival Pack’ DLC
- Volk Action Figure – specially designed by Takayuki Yanase, which features interchangeable accessories, weapons and hands
- Hardback Art Collection – 80-page artbook
- Exclusive Steelbook® Case – featuring mech designs from creators Yoji Shinkawa and Takayuki Yanase
- Collector’s Box
Quite a lot to ask for an unproven franchise that has yet to come out and has zero fans right now, but who knows, maybe someone rich will come along.
Left Alive comes to Playstation 4 and PC March 5, 2019.
