KOKO-DI KOKO-DA Opening In The US After Delay
The bizarre and trippy Swedish horror flick KOKO-DI KOKO-DA was meant to open in selected theaters late last March, but instead it became one of the first foreign horror films to be displaced by the pandemic. It’s been a few months since then, but the film has at last been rescheduled, and will have a virtual theater release.
Elin, Tobias and their daughter like to go out camping every summer. Or rather, they did until…the incident. The child vanished during their last trip, never to be seen again…and weirdly, it had something to do with a man in a strawboater hat singing “Koko-Di, Koko-Da.” Also, possibly, a dead pig was involved.
Three years later, the grief-stricken Elin and Tobias work up the nerve to go camping again, just like they used to. And….not only are they back at the same campsite, their daughter is alive and well. They’re now caught in a time loop along with her, and the circumstances are so bizarre that any way out is lost on them.
KOKO-DI KOKO-DA stars Peter Belli, Leif Edlund, Ylva Gallon, Katarina Jackobson, and Brandy Litmanen. It was directed by Johannes Nyholm (THE GIANT), and it will open November 6 in virtual theaters in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Cleveland and other major cities. If you’d rather see it on VOD, it’ll premiere there a month later on December 8.
Elin and Tobias are a happily married couple who regularly vacation with their young daughter. The family is on a dreamy holiday when an innocuous case of food poisoning derails their plans and forever alters the course of their lives. Three years later, the once loving couple is on the road again to go camping, looking for one last chance to go back to the way things used to be. But what once was is lost, and our characters instead find themselves having to relive the same nightmarish events, as that day and the horrors it brings repeat themselves infinitely. Together, they must overcome their trauma, reconcile with their past and fight for their lives. Over, and over, and over again.
