Kingdom Hearts 3 Will Have a Big Hero 6 World
We barely know anything about Kingdom Hearts 3, and it already sounds great. During Disney Interactive panel at the D23 Expo, Square Enix announced that the game would contain a world based on the hit CG animated film Big Hero 6 and showed off a piece of concept art, shown above. It’s Sora riding Baymax through San Fransokyo while brandishing his Keyblade like a boss. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate this development as very satisfying.
Roy Conli, producer of Big Hero 6 and Tangled, said the Big Hero 6 segment of the game will take place after the events of the movie and “will touch on the themes of friendship and light over darkness,” which is what Kingdom Hearts is usually about anyway. (This next part spoils a major scene in Big Hero 6, so if you haven’t seen it yet, go watch it and then come back.) Producer Shinji Hashimoto, representing Square Enix, commented that it might be interesting if the Heartless used the version of Baymax that was left behind in the portal from the film to battle the version Hiro currently has now from the end of the movie.
We also know Kingdom Hearts 3 will have a Tangled world and stages based on Aladdin and Nightmare Before Christmas. The game is some time away from being completed given Square’s glacial production pace, so for now, all we can do is stare at this painting and dream…
Release details for Kingdom Hearts 3 will be revealed later on. The game is being developed for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can check out the announcement video from the D23 Expo for the Big Hero 6 stage in the game in the player below.
