Katsuhiro Harada: “we are still developing Tekken X Street Fighter”
Namco Bandai producer Katsuhiro Harada has broken his silence on Tekken X Street Fighter to confirm that the crossover beat ‘em up is still in development.
Speaking with Siliconera last week, Harada explained that the release of Street Fighter X Tekken is one of the main reasons he hasn’t been issuing any new TxSF information:
“[SFxT] still had updates until recently. One interesting thing we’ve seen with that title when it came out was that it’s not quite what we expected. It was not just Tekken fans and Street Fighter fans merging; there seems to be a whole new community growing around that title that wasn’t playing either of the titles up until that point. That was very unexpected, but quite cool.
It’s something we want to take care and grow. Rather than throw out our title right away while those people are still interested in [SFxT], we are looking for the right time because we are still developing [TxSF].”
Harada went on to say that good progress has been made with the game’s mechanics and character line-up, but he’s keeping everything top secret for now. As per an earlier interview with the site, TxSF will incorporate Tekken‘s control scheme – each face button corresponding to a particular limb as opposed to a light or heavy attack. As such, combat will feel more “Tekken-like”, which long-time advocates of Namco’s franchise will appreciate.
In the words of Porky Pig, that’s all folks!
