Johnny Yong Bosch Will Reprise Vash In Trigun Stampede Dub
Trigun Stampede premiered its first episode last weekend, both in Japan and the US. Despite the high profile of this release, there won’t be a Simuldub (whee the sub and dub versions come out at the same time)…instead the dub versions of each Trigun Stampede episode will appear two weeks after their Japanese premieres. You won’t be hearing the show in English until January 21 but when you do, you’ll hear a very familiar voice.
You read the headline, so you already know Johnny Yong Bosch, the original voice actor for Vash the Stampede in the 1998 dub of the original anime, is returning to voice him again. At the time Bosch was only known for starring on Power Rangers, but landing the role of Vash changed the course of his life. “Voicing Vash the Stampede in the original TRIGUN series is a role that literally launched my voice over career and I am extremely excited to voice him again in this all-new anime adaptation from Orange,” he said in a public statement. “I look forward to going on this adventure with fans once more and hope new audiences enjoy the journey as well.”
The last time Bosch voiced Vash the Stampede was thirteen years ago in Trigun: Badlands Rumble.
On the planet of No Man’s Land, there’s no gunslinger more dreaded than Vash the Stampede. The bounty on his head is tremendous. So when reporter Meryl Stryfe and her partner look into it, they’re perplexed to meet a nervous goofball who’s also a total pacifist. He is responsible for a lot of damage, but it’s because he’s prone to causing catastrophes wherever he goes. They soon find out, though, that it’s Vash’s estranged twin brother who’s the REAL problem — and if they can’t stop him, he’ll destroy the world.
Trigun Stampede premieres new episodes weekly on Crunchyroll and Hulu. The English dub will premiere January 21.
