Jessica Jones Will Have Very Selfish Reason for Helping Others in New TV Series
For the upcoming Marvel/Netflix series collaboration ,Jessica Jones, it’s becoming clear that the protagonist Jessica has a very personal reason for doing what she does. And by personal, I mean it’s for more selfish purposes. Executive producer Melissa Rosenberg talked to Indiewire at the Television Critics Association Press Tour and noted that there is a key difference between Jessica Jones and the previous show Daredevil:
“Jessica is about paying rent, getting the next client. She’s dealing with a fairly dark past. She’s trying to get through the day. She’s not really trying to save the city, she’s trying to save her apartment. At her core, she wants to do something good. She wants to contribute to the world. But there are a lot of personality issues for her that can get in the way…Jessica Jones is a brawler. She gets drunk, she gets pissed off, and boom, you’re down. She doesn’t wear a costume, she doesn’t have a mask. She’s just who she is.”
This appears to be very different from Daredevil indeed. There is no release date for Jessica Jones yet, but the show is expected to air sometime later this year. The full first season of 13 episodes will be available at launch exclusively on Netflix.
