Jared Leto Talks Joker In Suicide Squad
Easily one of the biggest casting in the upcoming DC Comics movie Suicide Squad was Oscar winner Jared Leto playing the Joker. This would mark the first time the character has not been in a live-action Batman film, although Batman is in it. More and more looks were brought to Let’s Joker during the first trailers release, as well as release of photos of Leto’s Joker.
Many accounts have stated that Leto truly got into character when he tried “become” Joker on set, and this reflected in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, as reported by ComicBookResources.com.
“You’re kind of walking upon hallowed ground, and it deserves the very best that you can do,” he told Entertainment Weekly, referring to a character who’s been played by the likes of Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Mark Hamill and Heath Ledger. “It takes over your life and that’s what I needed to do for myself.”
He then went on to talk about what people can expect from Joker in Suicide Squad:
“You don’t know what the Joker is going to do next; you never do,” Leto said. “It was intoxicating to have no rules.”
Much is still not known about how the film will play out plot wise, but we’ll find out when it releases August 8th.
