James Cameron Admits “He Has To Deliver” With Avatar 2
Avatar, the movie by James Cameron, is the highest grossing movie of all time. Not the least reason why was that people were stunned and amazed by the beautiful world of Pandora. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cameron admits that there is no less pressure when making Avatar 2:
“No. Because you have to challenge yourself. Obviously, expectations are going to be very high on these films, especially on Avatar 2, to make sure it wasn’t just some big fluke the first time. So we’ve got to deliver. I’ve created a nice rod for my own back, so they say.”
The Avatar franchise is set to get a trio of films, that Cameron is working on right now, and Cameron relates that the movies are well underway both in script and in design.
“I’m in the process of doing another pass through all three scripts right now,” Cameron told EW during a recent phone interview. “Just refining. That’s in parallel with the design process. The design process is very mature at this point. We’ve been designing for about a year and a half. All the characters, settings and creatures are all pretty much [set].”
Ultimately, it will be down to the viewers whether Avatar 2, and the subsequent films, do as well as the original. It has the potential, but as James Cameron said, they have to deliver.
