Is a Warcraft RTS Coming After Starcraft II Finishes?
Blizzard has many different franchises under their wing of varying genres. One that hasn’t been touched in a while is the Warcraft franchise, not to be confused with World of Warcraft. At Gamescom, the producer of Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void revealed to IGN that after the game is finished, a team could be compiled to revisit the Warcraft RTS franchise:
“It’s very rewarding for us to hear that there’s demand out there for more RTS content in the Warcraft universe so once we’re done with Void I think we’ll get together as a team and talk about what would inspire us to work on next. There’s no question, though, that we’ll consider Warcraft, StarCraft, or even new ideas. Anything is possible.”
Though he made it clear that Starcraft is far, far, from over:
“This isn’t the end of StarCraft, but it’s the end of this story for these characters,” he said. “We don’t have any specific plans, but I’ll say that the universe has so much potential for more stories, clearly other stories could be told.
So clearly there’s opportunity for many games, and many stories to be told, which would you like to see happen first? A Warcraft RTS? Or Starcraft III?
