He’s Expecting – A Netflix original about a Pregnant Cisgender man

He’s Expecting is a Netflix original based from a Manga titled Hiyama Kentarou no Ninshin.

Men who are pregnant do exist now, but they are born with a female sex. Some transmen take sperm from a donor to become pregnant, while others marry men. Because they are still biologically female, they have never lost their ability to carry children.

Cisgender men are still unable to get pregnant because  they have no female reproductive organs. There are no space in a Biological Male’s abdomen where  he can be with child.

What if someone Assigned Male at birth who identify as a Man is suddenly with child?

Now through this series, We can see the perspective of a Cisgender man if he gets pregnant.

Kentaro Hiyama(Takumi Saitoh ) and His lover Aki Seto(Juri Ueno) made love out of impulse. A decade before their recklessness, Humans biologically evolved! Some men are starting to get pregnant after consummating sexual intercourse with women. Just like how Male Seahorses gets pregnant instead of the females.  Male pregnancy is highly dangerous and the only way they can give birth is through Cesarean section.  The Men also have to deal with the dilemma of whether they are keeping the baby or have an abortion.

Abortion is more dangerous for men but most of them opt for it.  Pregnant men experience discrimination  because it is like a bruise to their masculinity. They rather take the risk that be the center of jokes. Despite of all the negativities surrounding male pregnancy, Kentaro decided to keep the baby. It is his body and it is his choice so no one can influence his decision but him.He doesn’t care what people assumes about him.

Aki Suddenly feels the role reversal as she now experience  what men experience when they impregnate a woman. She started questioning if Kentaro’s baby is hers. He’s expecting will premiere on Netflix on April 21, 2022.  English dub is also available for people who loathes reading subtitles!
