Heartstopper is renewed for Season 2 and 3
Heartstopper is Netflix’s adaptation of the popular Webtoon written by Alice Oseman. The adaptation of her work has been renewed for not one, but two seasons, according to the writer herself. It got so successful that its renewal is twice as expected. Netflix usually has pretty high expectations and had canceled shows with higher ratings than the top shows of Peacock and HBO Max. So this Teen drama delivered with the ratings. It made overnight stars out of the actors of this series.

The Making of Heartstopper
So what makes Heartstopper so successful? Most LGBTQ content created has been catering too much to edgelords. They’re either too gloomy and dismal, or they’re excessively sexualized yet never normalized. Heartstopper is an innocent teen romance but the people who fell in love just happen to be both British boys.
BL or Boy’s love genre also have a growing fanbase with teenage girls.
Young Girls develop a fascination with shipping two handsome boys to fall in love. The Genre originated in Japan but it become widespread in Thailand,Taiwan and the Phillippines. Hoseman is a fan of the genre before she wrote the webcomics.
Most comic adaptations deviate so much from the source material. The people behind the show made sure it will stay faithful to the source material.
Joe Locke and Kit Connor look exactly like Charlie and Nick. Actors looking like the characters has become rarity these days.
There are some changes like the addition of the character Imogen. (Rhea Norwood) Who adds spice to the story rather than ruining it. The characters of the show felt like real people instead of caricatures. The Narlie shippers can now calm down because the whole book trilogy will be adapted. Meanwhile fans of Altered Carbon and Cowboy Bebop are still mourning that Netflix robbed them of completion. There is no official release date for upcoming seasons yet.

The show felt so light to watch, its like a Korean Drama but with British Actors on it. Even the side characters have interesting stories. It also puts the LGBTQA+ community in positive light. Unlike shows like Euphoria and the Elite which are too sexualized.

A lot of people has been comparing this to Love Victor but I prefer this because the main characters use girls to stay in the closet. I hate how many BLs villainized girls and women to put over the gay romance. When the biggest allies of Gay men has always been women.
