Halo Wars 2 Coming February, Open Beta Available Now
The sequel to fan-favorite RTS Halo Wars is set to launch February 21, 2017, according to 343 Industries. As well as supporting cross-play through the new Play Anywhere program, the game will also come in two separate versions – a Standard and Deluxe Edition. It will also offer a Season Pass for additional downloadable content.
A surprise announcement that came during briefing revealed that there is an open beta launching for the title. It will start today and run through to June 20 on the Xbox One.
Halo Wars 2 is a joint effort between 343 Industries and Creative Assembly, a British studio that was formed in 1987 and is famous for creating the Total War series of games including the recently released Total War: Warhammer. They have taken on the franchise from the Ensemble Studios who were responsible for the initial title in the series that were disbanded in 2009 by Microsoft.
