Guild Wars 2 Devs Show Price of Cheating in Their Game
Nobody, likes a cheater, especially when it’s in video games. True, cheat codes are part of gaming culture, and at times they can be fun, but that’s usually when you’re by yourself and just trying to beat the game. When it comes to multiplayer, and especially multiplayer where you don’t know everyone playing, cheating is a true sin.
For MMO’s, there honestly can be no greater sin, as it breaks the very point of the game, mainly when it comes to PvP where it’s supposed to be “fair”. But, some people don’t think the rules don’t apply to them, and it’s fun to watch them pay for their stupidity.
In Guild Wars 2, this came via a player called Darkside (you can already sense the cheating can’t you?). His cheat was making his character not only nigh unkillable, but when he did die, he would appear next to those who killed him mere seconds later to get revenge. In other words…he cheated.
Well, the devs of the game found out about this, and they weren’t too happy. Not. Happy. At. All! So what’s a dev to do? Well, they hijacked Darkside’s character and made him commit suicide in game. Then, the devs deleted all his characters and banned his accounts. The proof is via the video below and was confirmed by Mashable.
The moral of the story? Games are meant to be fun kids, especially when playing with other people. DON’T CHEAT!!!
