Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 Has To Wait On Infinity War
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 was a massive hit in theaters, and it’s already confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is going to be made. However, it’s not in production yet, and won’t be for a while. Not because Director James Gunn doesn’t have ideas on what to do, but rather he needs to wait on Infinity War to be done in order to set the tone.
Remember, the Guardians of the Galaxy will be teaming with the Avengers in both parts of the film, and as James Gunn’s brother Sean noted to Fan Fest, the outcome of Infinity War will affect the Guardians, so James needs to know what happens to prepare for that:
“I know that James is being a little bit more patient this time around. Partially because some of what happens with the Guardians is dependent on what happens with them in Infinity War. And even though my brother’s a producer on Infinity War, those movies aren’t finished yet so until we kind of see where everything lands there that’s going to have some bearing on what happens with the Guardians. So it’s a little bit of a wait and see but I’m sure there are a lot of ideas already in the works.”
The good news is that Infinity War is shooting back-to-back, and with the first of the two films releasing next year, it may not be too long until Gunn knows what’s happened and how to incorporate it into the next movie.
