Over the past two years, publisher Asmodee Digital and developer Flaming Fowl Studios have been building up a video game version of the hit board game Gloomhaven. It’s been in Early Access for dozens of months, but we hear it’s almost ready for the big time. The complete, finalized version of the Gloomhaven game will launch on Steam next month.
The Gloomhaven game plays much like its cardboard-based real-world counterpart, mixing tactical RPG elements with randomized dungeon crawling. It’s main attraction is an Adventure Mode with roguelike mechanics and turn-based combat. There’s also a co-op mode for two to four players. But the finished game has 95 new stories and event missions to delve into, on top of the 170 missions of the Guildmaster campaign that were added to the Early Access version. That equals over 200 hours of gameplay, with thousands of abilities to master, gear to collect and monsters to slay.
Whether you’re exploring dreadful forests or ancient crypts, the path through Gloomhaven is paved with difficult choices. Play alone or with up to four friends in both the Campaign and the Guildmaster adventure. Gloomhaven now streamlines online co-op multiplayer allowing players to join or quit a group without blocking their friends’ progression, thanks to a convenient save hosting feature. After two years of perfecting and polishing the game with help from the community, Gloomhaven is perfect for those who have never delved into the dungeons’ dark depths before or for returning fans of the beloved board game.
Watch out for Gloomhaven when it launches on Steam October 20.

This one came across our desk with the title “Low-Poly City Builder Arrives October 11.” We thought the title was Low-Poly City Builder and we immediately approved, but it turns out the game is actually called Settlement Survival. Low-Poly City Builder would probably sell better. Developed by Gleamer Studios, Settlement
