GI Joe: The Movie Returns To Theaters June 26
In the deregulated 1980s, every popular children’s toy got its own movie. And then starting in the 2000s every popular children’s toy from the same era got its own movie AGAIN, with some results better than others. So when we say “GI Joe The Movie,” we are talking about the animated 1987 feature, not anything made afterward.
The GI Joe movie has its fans, but unlike Transformers The Movie, it has never been re-released in theaters, not even as a Fathom Event. Fathom must have forgot! They’re correcting that now, and will bring the Joes back onto the big screen very soon, to honor its 35th anniversary.
The G.I. Joe team and a group of fresh recruits faces a new enemy – Cobra-La, an ancient society of reptilian people who are trying to forcefully take back the earth from those who drove them underground. The leader of Cobra-La, Golobulus, works with Cobra Commander and the Cobra forces to steal the Joe’s B.E.T., Broadcast Energy Transmitter, because it’s the only energy source powerful enough to help them launch their plan. But, G.I. Joe is there and knows they have to act quickly to stop the enemy or it could mean the end for mankind as they know it!
Yes, reptile people. GI Joe could get weird.
GI Joe: The Movie will be screened across two nights, June 23 and June 25. Hit this link to see where it’s playing nearest you. Go Joe!

This is timely since most of the casual audiences, don’t remember this series. Only the live action adaptations.

Cobra become Cobra La. Ok I can accept it but why reptile people? Why not just another fraction, more serious, more hidden or something similar?
