GemuCon cancelled and not likely to run again
GemuCon, a social convention centered around video games held in the United Kingdom has officially shut down.
The convention was scheduled to take place from the 8th of August to 10th of August was abruptly cancelled due to poor ticket sales. On top of that, the parent company which hosts GemuCon will also file for insolvency.
As it stands, GemuCon will not be able to give refunds to people who have already bought passes or flight tickets which will leave many convention goers stranded for the duration of the event.
The organizers have also urged all convention goers who have booked hotel rooms for the event to make the necessary cancellations before they are billed for it.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I come to you today with very grave and very sad news. Due to poor ticket sales, Gemucon 2 will not be running this year, or ever again. The parent company will be liquidated and struck from the Companies House registrar.
We apologise most deeply that it has come to this. As we are must settle our open accounts before dealing with refunds, it may not be possible to do these in full. We will be appointing an Insolvency Practitioner, who will be your first and only point of contact in regards to refunds. We hope to have a final answer regarding this by May 19th.
For those that have booked accommodation with Warwick Conferences, please phone 02475623222 before May 7th to cancel your booking, otherwise you will be charged in full.
Yours,
The Committee
However, Let’s Player Jesse Cox, who has heavily promoted GemuCon to his fans has offered an alternative for people who were committed to going.
