Game of Thrones is finally back, and Winter Is Here! The critically and fan beloved show brought fans up to speed on everything going on in the world, and that included showing that Jon Snow, now the leader of the North, and Sansa Stark aren’t exactly on the same page in regards to what to do. If you recall, Jon is one of the few who knows about how dangerous the White Walkers and the Night King are. Meanwhile, Sansa is more worried about Cersei, and she’s a bit jealous that she (a true Stark) isn’t the ruler of the North.
These two had a big argument in the show’s premiere, and the showrunners decided to elaborate to IGN on what is going on in each of their minds:
“I think there’s a little bit of resentment of that,” said David Benioff. “She feels that she’s responsible in many ways for winning the Battle of the Bastards because she’s the one who got the Knights of the Vale to come North and join the fight. She feels like she hasn’t gotten quite enough credit for that, and she also thinks Jon is quite a bit naive.”
As for Jon, he feels that the true threat is the one that is KNOWS is coming, rather than the one you might suspect is coming:
“It’s not so much that he dismisses Cersei as a threat long term, but right now the imminent threat is the Night King and the army of the dead. Winter has come. He knows that makes travel very difficult,” said D.B. Weiss,. “The idea that Cersei is going to lead the Lannister army up that far north, which has never been done which is probably beyond her capabilities, doesn’t really concern him.”
Guess we’ll just have to see who’s right as Game of Thrones continues!
