Game Of Thrones Season 7 Begins April 14
Nearly two years. That’s how long Game of Thrones fans have had to wait for any real word from the series. The drought is at last over, and the gang is here (and so is winter). HBO confirmed today Game of Thrones’ final season begins April 14.
There’s more! The announcement came with this teaser, depicting the surviving members of the Stark family gathering in the Crypts of Winterfell to look cool and pose with swords. But what’s that coming up from behind them, boxing them in, swooping in for the attack? It’s literally winter! Jon steels his sword. Prepare to taste steel, frost!
Also, if tradition holds, this thumbnail will be the visual aesthetic HBO goes with when they print the Season 8 Blu-Ray covers:
HBO CEO Richard Plepler told the press “It’s a spectacle. The guys have done six movies. The reaction I had while watching them was, ‘I’m watching a movie. They knew the bar was high. They’ve exceeded the bar. I’ve watched them twice without any CGI and I’m in awe. Everybody’s in for an extraordinary treat of storytelling and of magical, magical production.”
We’ll find out how magical AND how magical the final season is when Game of Thrones returns to HBO April 14.
