Game of Thrones Prequel Show Still in Preliminary Talks
Game of Thrones is one of, if not the, biggest show on TV today. Between its grand sense of scale, amazing actors and actresses, the fight scenes, and its ability to both show the full depth of George R.R. Martin’s epic story is what has drawn fans to the series. With each new season, the hype for the next one grows even more.
Add to that, the numerous awards given to the show and its cast, and it’ll go down as one of the most decorated series of all time. With all that said, it is going to be ending in two seasons. To capitalize on the momentum and popularity of the series, HBO has been looking into a potential prequel series of Game of Thrones, one that will take place long before the war that engulfs Westeros. There is plenty of material that could be made into a series, but as of yet, there is only talks of a prequel, according to a recent statement from an HBO executive.
“I would say it’s still kind of preliminary ongoing talks,” HBO programming president Casey Bloys told Entertainment Weekly, “There are areas we are exploring, but I wouldn’t point to any one and say, ‘This is what we’re going to do.’”
So there could be a prequel series, but it’s not set in stone yet. However, given there are two seasons to go yet, there is still time to work out all the details. Season seven of Game of Thrones is slated to debut on HBO in summer 2017.
