From Gamers Magazine Launches Kickstarter
The mainstream heyday of video game magazines is long past, but independent projects have risen to fill the gap. You may have heard of publications like Nintendo Force, produced by fans of game magazines that want to keep the spirit alive. From Gamers, now crowdfunding funds for its first two issues, is a bit different. Its content will ALSO be crowdsourced.
What does that mean? It means that instead of a steady writing staff, the material within its covers will be almost entirely created by readers. Anyone with the drive and passion to write a gaming article can submit their material and potentially get published. Why, it’s almost like…phew, almost gave in to making a personal plug, but caught myself just in time.
The first issue of From Gamers Magazine will be released this May, with feature stories on Deathloop and Far Cry 6 planned. Issue 2 has no announced release date but is expected later in the year. “Issues will feature game previews, reviews, cover stories, and unique perspectives from a variety of voices within the community,” says the members of independent game website GuideFall, who started the project.
You can get the first two issues of From Gamers Magazine with a $6 pledge. They’ll be digital copies, so if you want the physicals, you’ll have to up your pledge to $20. Higher pledge tiers grant you things like digital posters, a full-page ad in the magazine and more. Copies will ship worldwide.
You’ve got some time to think it over…the From Gamers Kickstarter will remain open another 44 days, closing on April 1. But it’s too cool an idea to skip out on, if you ask us.
