I met Steve 20 years ago because I saw an article about him and Kung-Fu Rascals in Film Threat Magazine. I was working in a comic book store at the time, and the editor of Film Threat used to come in. I asked him for Steve's number, and amazingly, he gave it to me.
I cold-called Steve, and that first conversation went on for about two hours. We talked about kung-fu movies, action movies, etc, and at the end of it decided to write a script together. That script never got off the ground, but while we were working on it, Steve got the call to direct Guyver II, and he asked me to write it. We've been friends and occasional partners ever since.
