It feels like it’s been a while since we covered a horror anthology movie, but Wild Eye is finally bringing over another one. Weird Fiction is another series of shorts brought together by bridging material, but the difference between this one and the others we’ve discussed is that the shorts are all by the same person.
Making a horror short is a good way to get one’s feet wet as a movie director, and that’s why these anthologies exist, but writer-director Jacob Perrett had to get his feet moist in quadruple time. All four of the stories in Weird Fiction are his.
So what’ve we got? We have a group of irresponsible teens searching for a missing body. We have the classic stalker vs. babysitter yarn. We have the “scary malady” story of a man who finds a strange bite on his neck, and finally, a story about two girls who make a discovery that could lead to the world’s destruction (or not, if they can do something about it).
