Perhaps she had miscalculated the angle of her attack, maybe she tripped slightly, maybe she was just unlucky. The attack connected, but only barely, leaving a cut in the animate's neck that didn't completely go through, leaving it on and intact. Feeling no pain the animate was now focused completely on her.

Benjamin's first shot grazed the top of the animate's skull, not piercing it but knocking it over on to it's back. Not dead yet but easily open to an attack now that it was knocked over. The other animate on the other hand was not nearly so lucky as bits of animate skull and brain went all over the place, leaving yet another lifeless body on the ground.

Now the living were starting to outnumber the dead in this fight, which was never a bad thing thankfully. Still there were some left to mop up, and the ones that were around were riled up and still hungry and quickly moved in to pounce on their

One of the animates chose to go for Irene had completely missed it mark when it jumped for her, instead hitting a nearby building face first, then falling backwards onto the ground, rolled down into the pit, before pieces of debris fell down onto it, crushing every limb in it's body, leaving it utterly hopeless. If it were alive and capable of thought and speech it would actually be asking to be killed as a mercy instead of having to go on in it's current state.

Victor couldnt help but chuckle at that, it was pretty damn funny after all. The comedic timing of it all made the fact an animate had just attempted to grab him, and also missed completely.

"Well no sense letting this deadhead stick around" he said as he raised the Magwitch Reaper and swung the blade at it's head.

Duncan twisted out of animates path at a safe distance from it, he took aim instead at the beast attacking a Dhampir. Doing anything to get his or the undertaker's good side seemed to be a wise course of action, both had received a letter and he may one day have need of someone to verify his story.

(Ness uses her held action to retaliate and attack animate # 9) [/hide]

Ness was disappointed that her first blow wasn’t perfect but she didn’t show it, Ness simply sidestepped the new grapple attempt and made another swing at the animate in front of her.

From the sides Tiny watched his mistress's every move, slowly wagging his tail as she struck.

The corner of Irene’s mouth twitched up into a smirk. The foolish Animate had been rendered totally incapable of doing harm, meaning she could collect the head without any trouble once she was finished clearing up. She quickly turned, not taking the time to aim precisely, and fired a shot at one of the struggling but still active Animates instead.

Target: Animate #10

Despite Duncan not being the fighter that the undertakers, dhamphir, soldier or mourner proved that he could still do some damage as the bull pierced the animate's knee, shattering it and causing the animate to collapse where it stood. Unable to get back up the animate used it's hands to drag itself around on the ground, still following the ever present need to feed.

This time the mourner's attack managed to show just why she was likely to be hired by the wealthy denizens of this neighborhood to watch their dead. With a single quick, clean and smooth strike the exculpus passed through the animate's neck. After a quick poke to the chest the animate's head fell forward and the body fell backwards.

It seemed all sorts of luck surrounded the female undertaker today, for the animates it seemed to be the worst luck possible, but for her and her trigger finger it seemed to be a whole different story. Not even aiming, not even knowing if the gun was actually aiming at an animate or rubble, the bullet rocketed from the gun and right through the skull of the animate she was facing, killing it before it had a chance to get up. The impact from the shot then caused a piece of rubble to roll over and crush the head of the helpless animate.

"Hell of a nice shot." Victor said, having seen the female undertaker managed to make a double kill with a single shot, even if it were 90% luck it was still something worth a remark.
[HIDE]Animates 10,3, and 9 are dead, 12 is incapacitated.[/HIDE]

From the looks of things the fight was all but won, all that was left was to take out that last animate and then hopefully get some answers from whoever sent that letter. At least it seemed that way at first, with the fight dying down and the sounds of frantic gunfire, slicing and smashing beginning to fade a groan could be heard from further into the pit. More animates? No, if there were more than one were down there it would be apparently from the get go. It was just one animate, perhaps a straggler bound to walk into the path of someone's gun.

Victor raised a hand, as if to tell the others to stay quiet while he attempted to listen. He was only human after all, his senses could only do so much. He could hear something pounding on the ground in addition to the groans. "Footsteps, big ones." he said "And getting closer." he said as the sounds did indeed seemed to be getting closer.

Suddenly the stomping stopped, with with a horrifying roar something jumped from the pit and up on to the ground level that the fight had been happening, landing on the last living animate and crushing it. This new animate, assuming it could be considered one, was much larger than the one they had fought, roughly twice as tall and bulky as the rest, bearing stitches on various parts of it's body, suggesting that it had been put together rather than just dieing and getting back up. Saying that this wasn't an ordinary animate was like saying the mourner's dog was a little bigger than most.

Most would be focused on avoiding this things attacks, and rightly so. But those who were more familiar with animates, and fought them often would catch on to something else about it, that was more unusual than its size. Animates ere simple creatures of instinct, capable of little more than walking, grappling and biting. Never in recorded history though had an animate picked up and used any sort of weapon though.

As the massive beast appeared Nathanial was spared from the animate by it being crushed. Beneath his respirator Nathanial was frowning, this animate not only looking wrong... it smelled wrong. Though Nathanial lacked the expertise to recognize the strange smell.

The large animate looked around for a moment, before spotting a downed light pole, moving to it and picking it up. Quickly it whipped around to face Nathaniel before raising it up and slamming it down in his direction.

Eye's wide in shock and confusion, Nathanial's instincts took over as he jumped toward the massive beast in an attempt to both dodge and close the gap to attack.

Where the animate was large and certainly not lacking in strength, Nathaniel's speed and quick reflexes were just what he needed to avoid having a light pole coming down on his head, something he was probably glad for when the plot missed and slammed into the ground beside him.

Nathaniel's strike on the animate's wrist was landed successfully , and though it flinched a moment, as if it might possibly drop the light pole, it's grip remained strong on it.

Victor flicked his right wrist, folding in the Magwitch Reaper's scythe blade and went back to holding like a rifle. Pointing it at the large animate while backing away to put some distance between him and it. It's large size made it easier to hit, but it's head was noticeably smaller than the rest, or perhaps it was normal sized and the rest was just really big. Either way it made it that much harder to hit from any angle. Plus it was surprisingly fast for it's size.

(Uses held action from previous turn to move back)

"I'm going for the legs, when it's down try and get the head. This thing isn't exactly normal but an animate's an animat!" he shouted before firing twice, once for each leg.

((Note only Fatal wounds on an animates head instantly kill it))

Both of the large animate's legs from the knee down were literally blown right out from under it, causing everything above that to fall forward onto the ground with a loud thud.

((The large animate's head can now be attacked and it's coordination has been reduced to 1 due to losing it's legs.))
