Duncan couldn’t help but over hear the conversation between the Dhampir and the Undertaker, it seemed that the red envelope wasn’t a set up after all, though he would still need to carefully monitor his own behaviour around these people. As if reality itself was telling him to focus on the problem at hand first, an animate flung itself toward him catching the doctor off guard. Despite it surprising speed Duncan managed to leap out of the beast’s way and readied his revolver.

Animate #2 attempts to grapple Irene

2d10+4

8+3+4 =15

Irene’s eyes went wide as the Animate advanced on her. Now, keep in mind that a man throwing himself at her was not entirely new, but they were commonly still alive, although she had to allow that the motive was still a hunger of sorts. The Animate was closing in, intent on pulling her into the most unpleasant sort of embrace she could imagine. One with gnashing teeth at the end. She screwed up her face in discomfort, and swung out using one of her Derringers to knock the bloodthirsty freak away with a sharp pistol whip.

Having managed to grapple Benjamin the animate wasted no time to rear up and attempt to take a big bite out of him. Instinctively it went for Benjamin's shoulder.

Animate #7 attempts to bite Benjamin

[HIDE]
2d10 + 4 (vitality)

9 + 2 + 4 = 16

DR 11

Result: Success
[/HIDE]

With it's prey grappled the Animate had no problem being able to clamp it's undead jaws on Benjamin's neck, it would have taken an exceptional feat of good luck to avoid such an attack, like an exceptionally pointy piece of rubble right by his shoulder.

Roll to Damage
[HIDE]
2d10+4 (vitality)

7 + 1 + 4 = 12

-3 (Benjamin's vitality)

-6 (Deathwatch armor value doubled)

12-3-6= 3

Result: Flesh wound

[/HIDE]

The strong armor of the Deathwatch soldier proves to be defensively solid with the Animate's teeth unable to pierce through it. Thanks to his armor taking the brunt of the attack Benjamin wont have to worry about infection today. Nonetheless between the force of the animate leaping at him to grapple him, and the forceful nature of the bite, and how the armor on his shoulder was partially crushed around the shoulder, with the bitten areas clamping inward on his shoulder it still hurts like hell.

((Until the wound is treated or heals on its own Benjamin suffers a -1 on skill rolls. Benjamin must roll 2d10 + Coordination to determine if he holds on to or drops his weapon. Flesh wounds dont have long term complications. The Difficulty Rating is 11))

The Animate advanced on Ness, reaching out to grab the young woman and sate its hunger. Though many women her age would have panicked Ness remained calm. In a move that barely rustled her dark grey skirt, she stepped backwards, away from the encroaching Animate. She held the exculpus in her left hand behind her, while the right one was raised to block her face and neck. Ness then suddenly pivoted so she was standing parallel with her combat partner, bringing her left arm up in a graceful arc, aiming at the undead’s neck.

DR 11 + 4

24-15= 9

Result success

Damage:
2d10 + 3 (Ness's Vitality) + 2 (Exculpus) + 5 (aiming for the head)

4+7+3+2+5 = 21

Result = Fatal wound

[/HIDE]

With a single clean cut the exculpus passes right through the animate's neck. It was so quick that the animate seemed to barely noticed as it twitched for moment, still advancing, before it's head just plain fell off.

As of now roughly one third of the animates had been successfully defeated, but the majority of them were still around. The remaining ones had finally climbed their way out of the hole, aware of the fact that prey was present, but their dulled senses hadnt picked up on just where they were. Now was the prime opportunity to strike, something that Victor picked up on rather quickly.

"They haven't sniffed us out yet, hit them hard and fast while ya can!" he shouted.

((Turn order is the same, Animates 4, 6,8 and 5 are dead. ))

"Not a problem, just noticed you went for the back, most folks who fight these things a lot don't bother going for anything other than the limbs or the head." Victor said rather nonchalantly. "Nice decapitation by the way."
"Thank you, young man. As for my prior attack, I misjudged the weight of this sword. It is a bit lighter than I'm used to." Nathanial chatted as though he were mingling at a social event and not fighting for his life in the middle of a street.

His gaze locked on the downed Deathwatch Soldier. "Seems as though you need a hand. Hold still a moment." Nathanial cautioned and shifted his weight to adjust for the lighter weapon before slashing down at the Animate's head.

[HIDE]Nathanial attacks Animate #7
3d10 + 4 (Melee Skill) (2d10 + 1 Bonus: Preferred Weapon)

8 + 9 + 7 + 4 = 28

28 - 3 (aiming) = 25

DR 11+ 4

Result: Successful hit

Damage

2d10 + 3 (Nathaniel's Vitality) + 4 (Longsword) +5 (aiming for the head)

10 + 6 + 4 + 5= 25

Result: Fatal Wound

[/HIDE]

Nathaniel's near supernatural abilities and inherent dhamphiri strength delivered a blow that was not only strong but accurate, the blade going through the animate's neck, with the tip just missing Benjamin's neck. Yet another animate head found itself rolling away. Apparently this group had a knack decapitations.

Five animates down, seven more to go, so far of all of them, the soldier, the dhamphir and himself were dealing the most damage, that mourner was doing pretty well too. Considering the restrictive nature off their work he was surprised one of them was contacted, though perhaps she was just in the right place at the right time. Still from the looks of it there were more undead than bullets in his gun, plus things were getting hairier with folks getting up close and personal, shooting was good before but getting a target was harder than before now. In the end though, there was a reason he loved that Magwitch Reaper of his. With a flick of the wrist and pull of the trigger, the gun's scythe blade unfolded and locked into place, changing the gun into a handy melee weapon.

He closed in on an animate and swung downward with the blade poised to drop on it's head.

Victor attempts to attack Animate #2, 1 action

[HIDE]3d10 (+1 from preferred weapon) + 4 (Vic's vitality) -3 (head aim penalty)

5+3+10+4-3= 19

DR 11+4

Result: Success

Damage:
2d10 + 4 (Vic's Vitality) + 3 (Magwitch Scythe) +5 (headshot)

9+2+4+3+5=23

Result: Fatal Wound
[/HIDE]

The blade came crashing down through the animate's skull, slamming it down on the ground face first. Vic stomped the animate's shoulder with his right foot and pulled backwards with enough force to pull the animate's head right off before flinging it aside. "Yeah, you probably planned to kill that one, it just happened to be the first one I spotted." he said to Irene as he briefly glanced over to her.

Ness turned to the nearest animate. She didn’t have to advance far and easily turned the few steps required into a fluid movement that built momentum for her next attack. She started by stepping beside it, then turning to bring her right blade arcing horizontally toward the animates neck. After her attack Ness held herself in a attack stance, ready for retaliation.

[hide] ( 3d10( 6 + 10 + 4 ) +3 Melee Weapon -3 Aiming = 20)
(Ness uses her first move to attack and holds her second action) [/hide]
