I recently got to see the Tron sequel. It was much better than what I've heard. And while I don't usually like Disney, I welcome this.

However, I can't help but wonder if they are reviving Tron the hero in this cartoon or if they just have someone else claiming to be Tron. Like Batman Beyond, only without the original as the mentor.

I'll still check it out, though.

Here's a full prologue to Tron Uprising:

Ended up watching the episode.
It's a lot of dumb dumb action. The dialogue is so cringeworthy it's hard to imagine this next to Legacy which was most of the time very cleverly written. This one is just hamfisted as all hell. Also, what's with Tron himself, the situation his character is in doesn't make a lick of sense.
Character design style doesn't help, and while I can't complain about animation in action sequences when they talk the only thing that moves is their mouth and it looks rather odd.
Can't say I'm all that excited.

Interesting first episode.

[HIDE]I'm guessing this is taking place after the movie, which is the only reason why Tron has his memory back. But where the battle damage came from is beyond me. Hopefully, we'll see more of Flynn and Clu in the future. the voice actor playing Clu sounded like a perfect match for Jeff Bridges.

I like the visuals, and the character designs are growing on me, especially how programs can have more than one color as accents to their suits.

As for the story, just like I feared, another Batman Beyond copy. I'll keep watching because I like Tron, but it's not the best of starts. Also didn't like the parts where Beck was all whiny. (Seriously, why did he pretend to be Tron one second then suddenly say that he can't take responsibility the next? Being a resistance leader just a fun hobby now or something?)

The only other thing that takes me out of the experience is how the programs are acting a little too... human. They never convinced me that these programs are programs, like the ones from the movies. But that could just be me.[/HIDE]

Bumping this because I just got done watching the premiere, and I really enjoyed it.

Beck is a little whiny, yes, but I think that will pass as we get further along and he fully assumes the role of Tron. I definitely enjoy how they kept the world similar to in Legacy, and I'm even digging the supporting characters, like Mara and Zed.

I'm definitely gonna keep watching this.

I was honestly rather surprised at how fantastic this show turned out to be considering that I wasn't even going to bother giving it a second glance due to my views on Legacy (which for the sake of an argument that I would rather not have, I'll withhold them for now)

It has a very strong story with a very likeable cast that feels nostalgic for a time when cartoons were not dumbed down for kids
